Special and oversized transport
Transportation of bulky and heavy cargo by road is carried out in a permissive manner, based on the bearing capacity of roads and structures.
In this case, cargo means the vehicle itself (loaded or not) with the permissible:
- axial load;
- overall dimensions along the length, width and height.
The main regulatory document regulating the transportation of bulky and heavy cargo is the Instruction of the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on the transportation of bulky and heavy cargo by road on the roads of the Russian Federation from 05/27/1996 (as amended on 01/22/2004). In addition, bulky and heavy cargo should be transported taking into account the requirements of the Russian Federation Road Rules, cargo transportation rules and additional requirements specified in the cargo transportation permit. It is also necessary to note the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of September 26, 1995 No. 962 (as amended on February 6, 2002), which regulates the procedure for charging fees for damage to roads and road structures by vehicles.
Special and oversized transportations require preliminary preparation.
For example, a detailed study of the route, obtaining the necessary permits, and, if necessary, escorting, including traffic police, coordination with various services, as well as many other professional activities. Often, engineering preparations for the delivery of cargo take more than one month; special projects are required to be completed, bridges and structures are strengthened, roads are expanded, and special measures are taken to ensure unhindered reception and delivery. For the delivery of such goods use special trailers (platforms), controlled low loader semi-trailers, self-propelled modular axles and other non-standard equipment. A competent approach to all stages, during the transportation, will avoid fines, delays and damage to property and, accordingly, satisfy the most “daring” desires of the Customer.
